Training Specialist program is designed to prepare job-ready graduates to design, implement, and lead organizational training and talent development programs. Training and talent development is a $107 billion dollar industry with an immense number of job opportunities. Business and industry, health care, government, military, higher education, and other adult environments are seeking people with knowledge and skills in instructional design and talent development that will result in enhancing organizational performance improvement. Based on the competencies identified by employers and professional associations, graduates will be able to demonstrate training and instructional design knowledge and skills; leadership skills; communication and team building skills; entrepreneurial, creative problem solving, and investigative skills; proficiency in the application of web-based technologies used in training and talent development programs; and an appreciation for cultural, racial, and gender differences that impact the effectiveness of training and talent development programs in organizations globally.

Related Experience

Students are encouraged to work with faculty and external partners in dynamic training and talent development projects and internships. Such professional development opportunities result in greater exposure to the field and often result in full-time employment opportunities. Study abroad opportunities are available.

Training specialist graduates have a high rate of success because they have: Developed the knowledge and skills in instructional design and talent development as identified by employers and professional associations; Acquired real-world experience through projects, internships, and study abroad opportunities; Acquired organizational leadership, team building, and communications skills required in today's global economy.
