在這里學(xué)什么？

Marketing education is a critical shortage teaching area in Virginia. Marketing educators teach a variety of marketing courses including marketing and management, fashion marketing, sports and entertainment marketing, travel and tourism, hotel/motel marketing, internet marketing, personal finance, and more. Marketing education includes a three-pronged approach to education, and includes classroom instruction, work-based learning, and DECA, the career and technical student organization. Marketing educators work with local employers in the afternoon, and often travel to a variety of conferences around the country to participate in DECA.

Related Experience

Marketing education students enjoy the hands-on nature of this program because students do marketing activities. Marketing education students are constantly on the move! Those who participated in DECA during high school best understand the nature of marketing education, and have participated in a variety of activities and competitive events both in and out of the classroom. While there are many educational conferences throughout the year, the culminating activity is DECA's International Career Development Conference (ICDC), hosting more than 10,000 students in major cities throughout the country such as Orlando, Anaheim/Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and others.

Careers

While most marketing education graduates go on to teach marketing in high schools, a minority opt to go outside of education and work in marketing and business and industry. There are excellent opportunities available in marketing education. The Virginia Collegiate Professional teaching license that students earn has reciprocity in 49 states. Key positions include: High school marketing teacher; Curriculum coordinator; CTE director/supervisor (experience required).
