專業概況

The Special Education M.A. Degree program at CSUB is designed to provide candidates with knowledge and competencies necessary to take on leadership roles in the field of Special Education. The CSUB Special Education M.A. degree program is designed to reflect the standards established by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

The Special Education Program is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The program offers exemplary credential programs in Mild/Moderate and Moderate/Severe Disabilities including an Intern Credential Program. The Program also offers an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Added Authorization.

The Special Education Credential Program offers two preliminary credential area options and one added authorization: (1) Educational Specialist in Mild/ Moderate Disabilities; (2) Educational Specialist in Moderate/Severe Disabilities; (3) Early Childhood Special Education Added Authorization. These credential options are offered at the main campus and also at the CSUB Antelope Valley campus.

The Special Education Program offers Intern Credential Programs in either Mild/Moderate Disabilities or in Moderate/Severe Disabilities. Intern candidates are required to complete the Preliminary Intern program. All requirements for Intern Credential Preliminary Credential Programs are similar to the traditional preliminary credential programs, except for the field experience components.

Master of Arts Degree in Special Education the Special Education Program offers programs and services leading to the Master of Arts in Special Education in the areas of mild/moderate disabilities and moderate/severe disabilities. This MA degree concentration is individually designed to reflect the student’s interests. Technological applications and multicultural considerations are emphasized in all programs.
