Course overview

Building on your own previous experience and background, either from your studies at university or beyond, the programme will expand and develop your creative leadership skills.

Designed and delivered in close collaboration with leading regional arts, cultural and creative organisations, the programme provides you with the theoretical framework, appropriate skills and practical experience to meet the challenges of working in your chosen field within Arts, Cultural and the Creative Business sector.

We encourage applications from as wide a range of backgrounds and specialisms as possible. The course can also be tailored to suit people already working in the sector who wish to gain experience in leadership and management, or to accelerate career development.

Course summary

This programme aims:

• To deepen and extend knowledge and understanding of Arts Management in the 21st Century and other modes of creative enterprise, through a detailed consideration of a range of texts and cultural activities
• To encourage confident experimentation in, and sophisticated understanding of, critical theories and scholarly debates, especially in the field of arts, heritage and the creative industries
• To encourage students to work independently as scholars in the field of arts, culture and creative industries, and to present their work in a coherent, reflective and sophisticated manner
• To develop advanced subject specific and transferable skills, including high-order conceptual, literacy, communication, and research skills of value in graduate employment or for students planning to progress into doctoral research.

Graduate destinations

This course can lead to art, culture and creative related professions such as arts management, theatre management, a range of creative SME’s, curation, museum management, etc. The course can also support students wishing to go on to study at MPhil/PhD level.
