專業概況

The College of Sciences provides undergraduate and graduate education to teach students to apply scientific principles creatively and responsibly. The College is sponsoring research of scientific and technological problems and disseminates the findings to benefit the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation and society at large. Interdisciplinary initiatives within the College as well as with other Colleges are strongly encouraged and are critical for the growth of the College.

The College of Sciences (COS) at Old Dominion University is committed to providing undergraduate and graduate programs of the highest quality. Our objective is to create and maintain a strong academic environment where students can learn and discover.

Our undergraduates learn in the classroom, in the laboratory, in the field, and around the world. Our students go on to graduate or professional school and to very successful careers in industry. We are very proud that many undergraduates work with faculty on innovative research, developing skills that will benefit them in whatever career path they choose.

The COS offers 13 Master's degree programs and 9 Ph.D. degree programs. The local proximity of Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, NASA Langley Research Center, Eastern Virginia Medical School, Virginia Institute for Marine Science, the Virginia Aquarium and many other local institutions makes ODU an excellent location for pursuing an advanced degree in science.
