專業(yè)概況

The course focuses on the inclusion of service users and carers as an integral part of its delivery. Ensuring that person-centred recovery processes are addressed throughout in the development of the student. The mental health field of practice modules will be further informed by critical engagement with current mental health agendas and developments.

The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health) degree is awarded by BPP University.

The course aims to produce excellent nurses, who are fit for practice and able to meet the key needs of all patient groups. Students will experience an academic and professional training environment conceived and structured to enable you to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue and sustain a career in contemporary nursing practice.

The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health) [Pre-registration Nursing] focuses on the inclusion of service users and carers as an integral part of the delivery of the course. This will ensure that person-centred recovery processes are addressed throughout the course in the development of the student. The mental health field of practice modules will be further informed by critical engagement with current mental health agendas and developments. This is a three-year, full-time degree consisting of field of practice, generic and practice learning modules, beginning at Level 4 through to Level 6.

Mental health nursing as a career

The BPP University School of Nursing is committed to producing nursing students who are highly skilled, compassionate, caring professionals. Mental health nurses work with a variety of people, or can specialise in a particular filed of practice such as adolescents, adults or offenders.

Usually you will be required to work on a number of tasks during any given day such as assessing and supporting patients, encouraging patients to take on therapies, physical care and providing medication, to name a few.

Additionally, you will work closely with support workers, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and health visitors, social workers or the police. Our aim is to produce nurses who will provide a first class patient care for all service users, in a wide range of healthcare settings.
